Emptying crumbs and dust out of your MacBook keyboard may soon be a thing of the past. I have eaten many a sausage sandwich at my desk and occasionally have had to deal with a jammed key due to a stray bit of muffin (I’m from Rochdale where they are called muffins, you may want to substitute this for bap, cob, bread roll or barm cake).
Apple has filed a patent that would suggest it is currently working on an upgraded version of its keyboard that would keep those pesky crumbs at bay. The application outlines how the keyboard uses a combination of gaskets, brushes, wipers and flaps to direct crumbs away from the movement mechanism.
The new keyboard may not be available for a few years but Apple is due to unveil their new MacBooks later this year.
