Test your website’s speed and why it is important

The speed in which your website takes to load is often completely underestimated. You can spend an almost infinite amount of time and money getting your site looking perfect, with intuitive navigation, clear call-to-actions, and informative design, yet you may not realise just how how important the load speed of your site is.

Since 2010 Google has included page speed in its algorithm to determined where your site will place in its search listings. You can test the speed of your site using Google’s PageSpeed Insight tool. Simply type in your website address and it will give you a score out of 100 for both the desktop and mobile versions of your website.

Our website has a desktop score of 91 which is very good, here is a list of scores for a few other well known websites:

  • BBC – 67
  • John Lewis – 44
  • Google – 96 (well theirs should be good)
  • Apple – 69
